Something magical is growing inside the Bonsarium! Backyard Bonsai Bonsaist is delighted to introduce the Backyard Bonsai Budlings, an imaginative collection of miniature bonsai-inspired characters bringing personality, adventure and playful storytelling to the world of bonsai.
These charming little creations combine our appreciation for miniature trees with a growing fictional universe of colourful personalities. Each Budling has its own identity, appearance and place within a themed collection.
Seven Collections, Countless Possibilities
The Backyard Bonsai Budlings universe begins with seven themed collections, each exploring a different side of these miniature characters:
- Four Seasons: Bonsai characters inspired by spring, summer, autumn and winter.
- Little Troublemakers: Mischievous Budlings with playful personalities.
- Haunted Bonsais: Spooky miniature characters with a supernatural twist.
- Holiday Sprouts: Festive Budlings celebrating special occasions.
- Sporty Budlings: Energetic characters inspired by sporting activities.
- Enchanted Roots: Magical bonsai creatures from a world of fantasy.
- Bonsai Guardians: Protective characters representing the strength and spirit of bonsai.
Meet Our First Budlings
Our initial character designs feature three familiar bonsai favourites: Rhododendron, Azalea and Juniper. Each genus receives its own distinctive interpretations, beginning with the Four Seasons collection.
We’ve also developed a unique character identification system to help collectors recognise individual Budlings as the universe expands.
A Growing World of Collectibles
Our vision extends beyond illustrations. We’re exploring small collectible figurines, downloadable 3D-printable STL models and other creative ways for enthusiasts to enjoy their favourite Budlings.
These plans are still developing, but we’re excited to share the journey as new characters and collections take shape.
