Blessed Sunday Week 35

Bonsai encourages something that modern life frequently tries to steal from us: patience.

Trees don’t care about deadlines, notifications or overflowing inboxes. They grow according to their own rhythm, responding to sunlight, water, temperature and the changing seasons.

Perhaps that is why spending time around bonsai can feel particularly appropriate on a Sunday.

You don’t necessarily need to prune, wire or repot anything today. Simply take a few minutes to observe your trees.

Look at the new growth emerging as spring approaches. Check the soil. Notice how the branches have developed. Examine the silhouette from a different angle and imagine where your bonsai might be several years from now.

Most importantly, resist the temptation to change something simply because you are standing there.

Sometimes good bonsai care means leaving the tree alone.

Blessed Sunday Week 35 is about appreciating that slower rhythm.

Bonsai teaches us that beautiful things can take years to develop, and rushing the process rarely produces better results.

So spend a peaceful moment among your trees today.

Observe, appreciate and let them grow.
