Anyone who cares for bonsai eventually learns one unavoidable lesson: nature refuses to follow our preferred schedule.
We can provide the correct soil, sunlight, water and nutrients. We can prune carefully, wire branches and encourage a tree towards the shape we envision. What we cannot do is command it to mature overnight.
Growth happens when the tree is ready.
That patience is part of what makes bonsai so rewarding. Small changes that might seem insignificant from one day to the next become remarkable when viewed across months and years.
There is something wonderfully applicable to life within that process.
We often become frustrated when our own progress seems slow. Goals take longer than expected, plans change and sometimes enormous effort produces only tiny visible improvements.
Yet slow growth is still growth.
On this Blessed Sunday, your bonsai can serve as a quiet reminder that worthwhile things often require time.
Keep providing what is needed. Keep nurturing the roots. Make adjustments when necessary and appreciate every new leaf that appears.
You do not need to force tomorrow’s growth today.
Sometimes patience is part of the process.
