Bonsai teaches patience in a way few hobbies can.
You can wire a branch today, prune new growth tomorrow and carefully plan the future shape of a tree, but you cannot force years of development into a single afternoon.
Nature follows its own timetable.
This Blessed Sunday Week 38, that’s a lesson worth carrying beyond the bonsai bench.
We live in a world built around immediacy. Messages arrive instantly, purchases can reach our doors within days and information appears within seconds. It’s easy to expect personal goals to develop just as quickly.
But meaningful growth often happens slowly.
A bonsai develops through seasons of growth, pruning, recovery and refinement. Sometimes progress is obvious. At other times, the most important changes are happening beneath the soil where nobody can see them.
People aren’t so different.
Not every period of your life needs visible results to have value. Learning, recovering, planning and building foundations are all forms of progress, even when there is little outward evidence.
Give yourself the same patience you would give a young tree.
Provide the right conditions, make thoughtful adjustments and allow time to do some of the work.
Have a blessed Sunday. Beautiful things are worth waiting for.
