Blessed Sunday Week 36

One of the greatest lessons bonsai teaches us is patience.

We water our trees, provide sunlight, prune carefully and watch for new growth. Yet there are periods when very little appears to be happening. The branches look almost identical from one week to the next, and the transformation we imagined when beginning the bonsai journey can feel incredibly distant.

But the tree is still alive and working.

Roots are developing beneath the soil. Stored energy is being used. Tiny biological processes continue whether we can see them or not. Eventually, a new bud appears, a branch thickens or the tree responds to months of patient care.

People aren’t entirely different.

There are seasons when our own progress feels invisible. We work, learn, recover, plan and persevere without seeing immediate results. It can be tempting to believe nothing is changing simply because there isn’t something dramatic to show for our efforts.

This Blessed Sunday, take a lesson from your bonsai.

Keep providing what encourages healthy growth. Give yourself time. Remove what is holding you back when the moment is right, but don’t constantly interfere simply because progress seems slow.

Some of the most important growth happens quietly.

Trust the process, remain patient and keep nurturing what matters.
